Elsa and Chuck Nystrom, the Georgia Rambler(s)

My husband and I have been married since January 1954, and are the parents of seven adult children. We are both Chicago natives but dreams of warmer winters brought us to Georgia almost 30 years ago.

Along  the way I acquired a PhD in History while my husband worked as a commercial artist.  I began teaching history at Kennesaw State University and the years flew by. Our children grew up as we continued to take road trips around the United States and Canada and have visited 49 of the 50 states. You guessed it, we haven’t been to Hawaii as a road trip wasn’t possible. As Head Rambler it has been my job to plan out the trips, take photos and write about them while my husband has been the quintessential side-kick and partner.

Although retired for nearly a year, I still enjoy writing and travel with my husband  and fellow Georgia Rambler. Thus my new career involves filling this blog with posts about our ongoing adventures.

We hope you will ramble along with us as we fill these pages with our thoughts on a variety of subjects, including river cruising, historical sites, road trips, wine and wineries ,and  regional food and drink to name a few . All will be based on our travels written from a senior but not sedentary viewpoint. The blog begins with posts about a wonderful river cruise we took last year!

  1. Hi, Dr. Nystrom- My name is Jennifer Bastion and I’m the Director of Life Enrichment at Sterling Estates of West Cobb. We are a senior community on Dallas Hwy in Marietta. I’m looking to hire an instructor for a college level class to be taught on our campus later this spring or summer. If you are interested in teaching a 4-6 week afternoon class, please let me know. Thank you for considering this opportunity to enrich the lives of some of our 250 seniors.

  2. Dr. Nystrom,
I’m so happy I found this blog! You were my professor for a few classes at Kennesaw and one of the highlights of my tenure there. I look forward to reading more of your rambling adventures!
